Aerobic Activity Could Help Brain Function

By admin

Aerobics activity can be defined as using the same large muscle group in a steady rhythm for at least 20 minutes while maintaining 60-80% of your maximum heart beat. Aerobic activities include jogging, biking, swimming, cross country skiing and other low impact activities that could produce an accelerated heart beat.

Aerobic activity strengthens the cardiopulmonary system but there is more and more evidence that aerobic activity could reverse age-related brain decline. I became a regular runner about 5 years ago when someone said to me, “You’ll very seldom ever find someone that looks beyond their years if they run a few miles each week.” Now it seems as if we may be saying that you’ll very seldom ever meet someone with a brain beyond their years if they exercise regularly. I have believed this for a long time and I’m glad we’re finally seeing research on this matter.
